Landowner and Contractors Manager
Living in the beautiful Elan Valley, Joel has always been inspired by the countryside, ecology and wildlife of mid-Wales. After studying Environmental Science at Portsmouth University, he has worked in forestry for the past 14 years. At 9Trees, Joel is instrumental in getting the trees planted, harnessing his past experience to both help draw up the tree planting plans and act as a key link between the landowner and contractors.

Tina has always had an affinity towards the environment and felt great stewardship in regards to its sustainability. Resulting in her acquiring a bachelors in Ecology and Conservation at Brighton University in 2023. At 9Trees, Tina undertakes desk-based assessments on various proposed sites to determine their compatibility with our planting.

These woodlands have been created by a partnership between 9Trees, sponsors and the Landowner, letting sponsors have information about the woodland where their trees are planted and tells them what they need to know if they decide to visit the woodland.
Under the new way; Branching out there is no visitation but we still require some info on the site to enable adequate funding for your FREE trees, stakes and guards!

An oasis planted with oak, birch, hawthorn, rowan, dogwood, and blackthorn. Delve into the captivating world that inhabits lichens, bryophytes and elusive Tawny Owls. Nestled amidst stunning moorland, this biodiverse haven invites you to discover the wonders of Welsh Rainforests.
Martin’s Wood, Burton-on-Trent: Planted January 2021
Martin Wood, a valuable habitat for wildlife and a stepping-stone for creatures to expand their territory. With a variety of tree species and its proximity to existing woodlands, this woodland is a haven where diverse flora and fauna thrive, offering a cool respite in hot summers.

This site has a pond, Wildflower Meadow and Rides (tracks or corridors of open space, are extremely valuable for wildlife) and Glade, on a Mixed Poultry and sheep organically certified small holding. 5 acres just 900 trees.

Drovers' Rest Woodland is surrounded by ancient Glascwm-îg enclosure and a gentle stream. Nanny Goat Wood, Derbyshire: Planted January 2022
Nanny Goat Wood is a lifelong dream turned reality for its owners. With over 1100 trees and a vibrant ecosystem, this enchanting woodland acts as a wildlife haven, connecting neighbouring woodlands and securing the populations of diverse species. Cass's Wood, Anglesey: Planted January 2022
Cass's Wood is a hidden gem nestled in Anglesey, Wales. With 500 carefully planted trees including Alder, Hazel, Birch, and Oak, this evolving woodland creates a haven for diverse wildlife and aims to connect local woodlands together. What happens next?
Once the site is ready, and a formal agreement has been created between 9Trees and the landowner, we deliver all the trees, stakes and guards.
You carry out the planting (We can do planting through ‘The ORIGINAL 9Trees way’ below).
We have the right to visit the Trees / woodland for 50 years, and depending on the Agreement we may replace any trees that fail in the first 2 years.
Our work is funded by subscribers - individuals or organisations - who sign up to 9Trees and pay one off donations or a monthly or an annual subscription so that we can buy trees for them to help balance part of their carbon footprint.
Because their subscription is intended to balance 1 tonne of carbon for each tree they fund, we work hard to maintain each tree for at least 50 years to make sure that it has the opportunity to lock-up as much carbon as it can.
We need the precise location of the sites, however we do not divulge this info to our sponsors, however photographic evidence must be sent or collected annually for our records and updates on our website, social media and our newsletter.
The income from the subscriptions allows us to plant trees on land like yours; the land remains yours but the trees will belong to the people that signed up and have paid for them. If you require replacement trees you simply apply.
One of our USP’s is that ‘We will not just plant the trees and ‘walk away’.’ We ensure you are planting the right tree in the right place at the correct time of year.
Our background is in nature conservation and we want to create a network of sustainable and biodiverse woodlands across the UK that are paid for by people & companies all over the UK.
